  • Welcome to Bee House Kindergarten

    Bee Better. Bee Different

    Pedagogical Concepts

    • Self-sufficiency

At Bee House, we treat each child as a fully independent person. This philosophy is integral to the daily experience at Bee House. We let the child tend to their own needs while offering gentle guidance and instructions on how to achieve their goals. They are encouraged to feed themselves, change their own clothes, wash, clean up after themselves, take care of their own belongings, and participate in keeping the classroom and school organized and clean.

    • Morning Circle

Every day at Bee House begins with a Morning Circle. This is a time for students to come together and signals the start of our school day. It also gives an opportunity for students to practice memorization, rhythm, singing, hand eye coordination, working as a group, good behavior, math, literacy, time and date, and many other things that can’t always be taught in structured lessons.

    • Structured Group Activities

      Structured Group Activities
Structured group activities allow students to prepare for elementary school. These structured activity times cover the daily lessons and follow themes that change monthly. Activities can vary between academic, creative, and artistic. Children engage in a broad range of skill-building, allowing them to expand their attention and focus, improve their dexterity, and develop an appreciation for aesthetics.

    • Outdoor Freeplay

Self-initiated imaginative play is critical to the healthy development of all young children. It’s a chance to practice and hone new skills while perfecting existing ones. Outdoor play structures allow children to explore with their whole bodies, crawling over and into large objects will help to develop their gross motor skills and coordination. We encourage them to get messy in the sandpit outside!

    • Learning Centers/Corners

Centers offer a mix of structured and unstructured activities that seek to develop, reinforce, and expand their emerging skill-sets. Center time includes literacy, math, arts and crafts, building, role-play, sensory play, and music. This allows for children to join in with their classmates to achieve specific goals, while also giving them a chance to complete individual tasks.

    • Classroom Management

Teachers at Bee House believe in positive reinforcement instead of punishing negative behaviour. We teach that there are consequences when one does not follow the rules and explain why the rules are there. We also teach how something is done in the classroom and how the children are expected to behave. Teaching process, procedures, and expectations allows for teachers to create a wholesome environment for children to naturally flourish.

    • Social and Emotional Development

Kindergarten is a pivotal time in a child’s life and the best time to give them the emotional and social education that will equip them for a successful future. It is important to teach children how to express their emotions in a healthy and constructive way, as well as provide a safe place for children to express themselves. We foster a caring and supportive environment to encourage healthy social and emotional development.

    • Special needs

We welcome all children into our classrooms. Every child comes with their own unique set of learning requirements and develops on their own timeframe. This includes children with special needs. As an inclusive educational environment, we believe that an immersive educational experience for children with special needs is a benefit to all. We also have early-intervention programs at the school to provide extra support for special needs children.
