Our goal with early literacy at Bee House is to provide our students with a holistic exploration that goes beyond simple phonics. We tell stories, sing songs, play make-believe, begin to write, look at picture books, read stories, and investigate books by ourselves. These kinds of literacy experiences have life-long impacts on the development of children and affect their attitudes towards reading. We believe that early literacy experiences help develop children’s linguistic abilities, social skills, imagination, and build towards substantial academic gains later in their academic career.
